About Us
Florida Virtual Global Services, an extension of Florida Virtual School, was created to deliver e-learning options to students and educators outside of Florida.
Founded in 1997 as a grant-based project, Florida Virtual School began with just 77 enrollments. As notoriety of FLVS grew, inquiries poured in from students and educators outside Florida wishing to benefit from this groundbreaking program. Since FLVS is a public school funded by state tax dollars, the school sought and received special legislation to deliver courses outside the state. State legislators stipulated only that any income be re-invested into course and program development so that Florida could proudly provide the highest quality education for all students, no matter where they reside.
In 2005-2006, Florida Virtual School delivered 68,000+ individual course enrollments, serving approximately 31,000 students in Florida alone. In addition, Florida Virtual Global Services serves individual students, schools, districts, and states, in more than 30 states across the nation.
Winner of numerous national and international awards, Florida Virtual School provides a rigorous academic program that passes stringent external reviews by states across the nation. Florida Virtual Global Services trains teachers, administrators, school districts, and states to deliver a sound, accountable, and successful online learning experience.
