Global School—a unique learning environment
The Global School is truly a global community that includes middle and high school students from around the world. Imagine the opportunities for working across geographical, cultural, and socio-economic boundaries. Students participate in online discussions, clubs, competitions, newspaper teams, and national forums. Our highly qualified instructional instructors, located across the U.S., are certified in the subject they are teaching.
The Global School provides--
- Scheduling flexibility
- Avenue for making up credits
- Access to expanded curriculum choices
- Course options for students living abroad
- Courses for home-educated students
Teachers communicate frequently and regularly with their student and parents by telephone, email, texting, blogs, wikis, podcasts and more. Parents and students can access courses and grades 24/7/365. If students are behind pace, teachers are proactive about contacting them and working together to ensure success in the course. Each course begins with a Welcome Phone Call where parents and students speak via telephone with the instructor. There are Monthly Progress Reports and regular contacts with instructors and with other students.
We put a high standard on student achievement, which means equally high standards for teacher achievement-and for the support teachers need to do their jobs well. We routinely monitor teacher's contacts, assessments, and other work to ensure that teaching excellence remains at the highest level. Many students comment that they gain more from the online versus traditional courses.
Global School students may participate in any of eleven online clubs, including Spanish and English honor societies, International Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Science Club, Newspaper Club, and more. Students are also welcome to join activities such as the Spring Literacy Fair, Career Day, College Hub Webinars, the World Hunger Forum, the Voter Registration Drive, the African-American Literature Read-in, and much more.
Join the Socratic Café to develop your discussion, debate, and presentation skills, or collaborate with others on a science, business, literature, or language project. Peer tutoring is available periodically through the week. There are many opportunities to work with students all around the country, both within and outside of the courses.
Take virtual tours with expert guides. Virtual field trips include visits museums or national parks. Students can view art galleries or participate in festivals, such as a spring Shakespeare festival or a Literacy Fair.
Global School is much more than an online course.
It is an experience.
